At the Kansas City Chiefs facility this morning, Chiefs LB Jovan Belcher killed himself. This was confirmed by Kansas City police. KCPD says the player thanked both Scott Pioli and Romeo Crennel before taking his life, and that Pioli and Crennel did not feel threatened.
@AlbertBreer says: Spokesman said PD the girl's mother called them, her daughter had been shot by her "on-again, off-again bf".
As the officer got out of his car, he heard a gunshot. Player was taken to local hospital, pronounced dead.
All officials have released on shooter remains he's a 25-year-old black male who plays for the Chiefs.
Jason LaCanfora of CBS
reports that LB Jovan Belcher was the guy that
committed suicide. Belcher was a LB from Maine. He had played in 11
games this season for KC. Last year, he started every game at LB. He had
87 tackles in 2011; 84 in 2010.
@DannyParkins is reporting that the player apparently was confronted with coaches in the parking lot before he put the gun to his head and committed suicide. Other reports are saying Romeo Crennel and Scott Pioli were outside, unconfirmed.
@TeamACW reported at 8:15AM CT: (1/2) Anonymous caller claiming to be a policeman says authorities are headed to Arrowhead to arrest LB
Jovan Belcher for allegedly shooting his mother. Surely, an extremely creative hoax. But the way things have gone for the this year...
Glazer is reporting all players have been asked to report to a team meeting. Jeff_Rosen88 (sports editor of the KC Star) is reporting a #Chiefs player killed his girlfriend and then himself. KCTV (CBS in KC) also reporting the shooting. 8am CT.
