Saw a tweet that Kidd Kraddick died. Texted my friend who works on his show. He confirmed it but has no details. That is from Siera Santos, an Oklahoma City sports reporter.
@BrandonMH1
@richardrayfox4: Been hearing unconfirmed reports since late PM. Confirmed now. Kidd Kraddick died today.
@radioinsight
Kidd Kraddick died of a brain aneurysm in New Orleans doing stuff for his charity. Wow I can't believe it.
Horrible listening to KHKS' Billy The Kidd breaking down in tears making statement about Kraddick's passing.
Kraddick was 53 years old. His morning show aired on over 75 stations across the country, and was based at Kiss 106.1 in Dallas. One of Kidd's sidekicks, @kellierasberry, used to be a weekend weatherperson at WBTW in Florence, SC. Kidd has been a radio host in the Metroplex since 1984. Before that, he was in Tampa, Fresno, Miami, Salt Lake City, and Los Angeles.
Kidd also had a charitable organization, The Kraddick Foundation, which helped to impact the lives of children who have terminal or chronic illnesses or are accident victims.
Kidd was also a frequent part of the Fox TV show Dish Nation.
This is Kidd with an Entercom sales rep last night (Friday) in New Orleans (@everythingsales)
From @RobertWilonsky, the official statement on Kidd Kraddick's death:
The official statement confirming the death of Kidd Kraddick:
"All of us with YEA Networks and the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning crew are heartbroken over the loss of our dear friend and leader. Kidd devoted his life to making people smile every morning, and for 21 years his foundation has been dedicated to bringing joy to thousands of chronically and terminally ill children.
Kidd passed away today in New Orleans at a golf tournament organized to raise money for his beloved Kidd’s Kids charity. He died doing what he loved, and his final day was spent selflessly focused on those special children that meant the world to him.
We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and his colleagues. At the appropriate time, we will release more information about the cause of death."
Same information sent in memo to Clear Channel staff. A sad day.
