College of Charleston OF Daniel Aldrich, according to college baseball guru Kendall Rogers, is leaving the College of Charleston to sign a free-agent deal with the Yankees.
Aldrich has been one of the top HR hitters in the nation for the last two years, hitting in the College Home Run Derby the last two seasons.

Apparently, he raked it in the Cape Cod League this year (the highest collegiate summer league). He had a .350 average for Cotuit in that league with 10 HR and 26 RBI in only 26 games.
Kendall says Aldrich signed for over $150,000. The Yankees saw him as a commodity for his HR power. Weirdly, he will probably end up in Charleston playing for the RiverDogs, maybe as soon as the beginning of next season. He is a redshirt sophomore in eligibility terms.
This is a big loss for the Cougars offense. We still have six months till the start of the regular season, so I won't go into anything more. Very interesting.
