Former Cincinnati Reds OF Ryan Freel has died in Jacksonville. Freel also served as St. Joe's baseball coach.
No details are available. First Coast News in Jacksonville is saying it was a suicide. He played for five different MLB teams from 2001-2009. He is most known for his six-year tenure with the Cincinnati Reds. His career batting average was .268, and he stole 143 bases in his career.
Jacksonville sports anchor Brett Martineau: Know several kids in my area who play ball for Freel. I just had dinner
w/his asst last night. Freel called during dinner. Awful.
